For some reason the slide show widgets stopped working. I don't know why. Probably has something to do with the widgets not being supported by Flickr anymore. Such a shame. I will probably have to choose a few photos from the series and post them instead, with a link to the whole series in Flickr. It will take me some time to organise all that as I'm also in the process of repairing a computer.
A few weeks ago I was in Murroe, County Limerick. I took some flower shots in the gardens of Glenstal Abbey and I also took some nice river shots at the Clare Glens. Because they don't really show a Geographical reference, I decided to post them in my general photo blog (19th of April and the 1st of May). It's a bit ludicrous to post them in this Limerick blog as well so just click here to go to my general photo blog to see them.
It doesn't happen often but we had snow a few weeks ago. I managed to get a few shots early in the morning outside my work place, near Newcastle West in county Limerick.
Question: I am in one of the photos. Can I use it on my blog?
Answer: yes you can. It would be nice if you would let me know about it, mention me as the photographer on your blog and maybe even give a link to my blog. You can also print them for yourself. All my photos are copyrighted so as long as you don't sell my photos or claim them to be your own, there's no problem.
Question: the photos on your blog are quite small and the quality is not that great for making larger prints. Can I obtain better quality files for printing?
Answer: The files on my blog are small for a reason. They are large enough to view on-line and don't take long to download. I don't want people to use my photos commercially without my permission. Lower quality photos will help prevent this from happening. Higher quality photos are available through me as digital files or prints.
NB: If I make any money from the Gay Pride photos, now or in the future, that money will go to the Rainbow Support services. I gave them the right to use my photos from that week at their own discretion.
Question: do you shoot weddings?
Answer: no, I don't.
Question: can we hire you to shoot an event?
Answer: you can always ask and I might even say yes, depending on the occasion :) Prices are negotiable.
The Gay Pride Week 2008 was a great week in which Gays, Lesbians and Hetero friends and family, united in celebration.
The week started on the Sunday with a Garden Party and Art Auction. That's where the photo series starts as well.
I'm just going to add the rest of the week to the same slide show. When you click on one of the photos it will bring you to the whole series in Flickr. When you click on "all sizes" you can then see them in a bigger size.
You can also see on what day they were taken as every photo will have the day added in the title.
November 8th 2008:
I have updated this slide show with the Thursday photos. It was a variety night in Baker's place with song, dance and stand-up comedy.
I didn't go to everything that was on during the week but still to come are photos from the ball on the Friday night and the mardi gras party on Saturday. I won't get it finished this week so I will continue it through next week.
November 14th 2008:
added the photos from the Friday night Rainbow ball. The ball was in aid of the rainbow support services.
December 7th 2008: I finished this post with the photos of Saturday night's Mardi Gras party. And yes, Lorna, you are in some of those photos too. :)
I want to say a big thank you to everybody who helped organise this week. It was absolutely brilliant. I'm already looking forward to next year's pride week.
You don't have to be gay to enjoy a pride week and you don't have to be gay to support the gay community in Limerick.
Live is all about diversity. It makes live a lot more interesting. And everyone should have equal rights in society. Show your support.
A little while back I had a bit of a set back because one of my external photo harddrives broke down. Of course I had all the originals backed up on DVD but the edited ones I hadn't.
This means that it will take me a bit longer to post certain shots because I have to re-edit a lot of photos.
Still to come: more shots from the Gay Pride 2008 week and photos from the Alternative miss Limerick 2008.
I didn't realise that I had the commenting option set to logged in users only. Somebody mailed me about it and now I've changed it. Now anyone can comment.
And there I was: looking at my blog and wondering why I didn't get any comments. :) Hopefully that will change now. I can see by the flag counters that I'm getting hits on this site from a lot of different countries. I hope you all like the photos. :)
As you can see in the links section: I have a general photo blog too. You can visit it here.
Sometimes the weather is quite warm but there is rain or a thunderstorm on it's way. Then you get these fantastic clouds which, in my opinion, make for better shots than clear blue skies. The castle in the photos is Limerick Castle.
I am a Dutchman living in the south-west of Ireland.
I started off in the 1980s as an analogue photographer, printing my own black and white photos and also shooting a lot of slides. I followed a few photography workshops and was a member of a photography club for a while. I took part in a few exhibitions.
A few years ago I transferred to digital photography completely.
My photography includes candid street photography, events, landscapes, cityscapes, macro and portrait photography.
I have two photo blogs. My general photo blog is here. I also have a Limerick photo blog. You can visit it here My photos are for sale. Prices depend on the print size and print medium. They can also be purchased as digital files.
